Can hardly have a series of pics of North American Birds at the table with out this outstanding rascal. He's quite as bad as any of his relatives around the world!!
Went to a neighbour, Laurie, today to watch hawks, but they kept their distance. Did, however, get a shot of this nuthatch coming headfirst down a nearby tree. It was good to see them in their proper habitat and not just around the feeders.
Just caught this fellow on the feeder. From my book it seems to be a Red-bellied Woodpecker, female. Being a stranger over here, can any of you experts confirm this ? Or not ?
I was out in the empty lot behind my backyard, looking for a completely different bird species (Verdin) to photograph, when I heard this bird (Black-tailed Gnatcatcher) calling. I managed, somehow, to exactly match the Black-tailed Gnatcatcher's call. He/she then came over to investigate and I was able to get a snapshot of him/her before he/she flew off. I also managed to get a close-up photo of a Curve-billed Thrasher.
Just wanted to share three Mockingbird photos.
This little fellow and his/her mate were flitting around in the bushes in the backyard behind my house. I was originally looking for woodpeckers to take photos of when I caught sight of the two Black-tailed Gnatcatchers and took this photo of one of them instead. They are so cute!
